Rawalpindi: The 84th Formation Commanders’ Conference, chaired by Army Chief General Asim Munir, emphasized identifying and prosecuting those spreading fake news for personal or financial gain.
According to ISPR, the two-day conference was attended by corps commanders, principal staff officers, and all formation commanders.
The session began with prayers for the martyrs and paid tribute to security personnel killed during recent violent protests in Islamabad.
The forum honored sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and citizens for the nation’s peace and stability.
Army Chief General Asim Munir reaffirmed the military’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s security and stability against internal and external threats.
Participants resolved to counter all challenges while highlighting the importance of professionalism in ensuring the country’s defense.
The forum called on the government to legislate against malicious misuse of free speech and enforce regulations to curb divisive rhetoric.
It emphasized the need for stringent laws to end the spread of lies and societal discord through media and propaganda.
The forum condemned attempts to exploit innocent citizens for violence and use aggression as a tool for personal interests.
Concern was raised over the misuse of Afghan soil by terrorists, stressing mutual development as vital for Pakistan and Afghanistan’s interests.
The Afghan interim government was urged to prevent its territory from being used for terrorism against Pakistan.
The conference also discussed protecting key government buildings in Islamabad amidst baseless propaganda against the military’s legal deployment.
Participants stated such propaganda reflects the sinister motives of certain political elements aiming to sow discord among institutions and the public.
They emphasized that malicious efforts to destabilize Pakistan through external support and misinformation will fail.
The forum reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris, condemning human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Solidarity with Palestinians was expressed, along with condemnation of ongoing aggression in Gaza and support for international legal action.
Briefings covered the current situation, highlighting traditional and non-traditional threats. Operational readiness and counter-terrorism efforts were comprehensively reviewed.
The forum resolved to focus on operations against BLA Majid Brigade in Balochistan and neutralize terrorist facilitators destabilizing Pakistan.
Support for socio-economic development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan was reaffirmed as part of welfare efforts for local communities.
The forum pledged continued backing for government initiatives against illegal activities and to dismantle the nexus between terrorism and crime.
