California: A powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit California, triggering a tsunami warning which was later canceled.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake’s epicenter was located southwest of California, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The quake prompted tsunami warnings for coastal areas of California and southern Oregon, which were subsequently lifted. However, aftershocks continue to be felt.

Following the tsunami warning, many residents began evacuating to safer areas, causing significant traffic jams. The earthquake also led to partial power outages, affecting over 10,000 people.

As reported by the American Power Outage Tracking website, 10% of California’s coastal residents lost power after the earthquake.

California Senator Mike McGuire confirmed that emergency rescue teams have been dispatched to affected regions in Humboldt and Del Norte counties for relief efforts.

Governor Gavin Newsom mentioned that state emergency officials are in ongoing meetings, and an operation center has been established for relief operations.

Media outlets report that authorities are still gathering data on the damage and casualties, with no reports of fatalities or major damage so far.
